Shirose Isumi’s Team Finishes Third of 24 in Nijisanji’s Splatoon 3 Tournament
After scraping through qualifying in sixth place the day before, the four-member team played Day 2 of Niji Ika Matsuri 2026 for more than six hours.
NIJISANJI — Shirose Isumi, Saotome Berry, Akagi Wen and Fura Kanato finished third among 24 teams on Day 2 of Niji Ika Matsuri 2026, Nijisanji’s Splatoon 3 tournament, on Sunday. All four streamed the day from their own channels, and Isumi’s broadcast ran 6 hours 44 minutes under the team’s #ISMWIN tag.
The team had advanced from qualifying the day before in sixth place, and the players said afterward that they had not expected to reach third. Before the matches began, Isumi and her teammates spent about three hours in practice. Isumi said Tower Control had been the team’s weak mode, with players crowding the front line while nobody rode the tower, and she was pleased when the team began winning it. Teammates also swapped tips on placing sprinklers on high walls.
“I won’t say there was no pressure, but it was good pressure. It wasn’t “I’ve been given this to carry, what do I do?” It was “I’ve been given this to carry, so let’s win for everyone.”” — Shirose Isumi, on carrying the team’s name
The team opened its matches by winning, including a tight one that Isumi’s teammates called nerve-racking, and later won a set after dropping a game. Its last match slipped away narrowly, which ended its run before the final. Isumi said she felt the weight of carrying the team’s name, which was built around hers.
Isumi said she was disappointed because she had wanted to win, but that she enjoyed the whole stretch. She thanked Berry for painting and throwing Booyah Bombs all day and Kanato for his calls and strength in head-to-head fights. Berry said everyone had done what they could and that she was glad to have shared the team with them. Wen said opponents had learned to guard against the Dynamo Roller the team practiced with, which made it hard to use, and Kanato said he had not expected the team to run so far.
Chat congratulated the team on third place as the last match ended, and Super Chats arrived with the same message. Berry said she would post a dance short next.
