Kazama Iroha and Her Tribe Beat the Boss on the Last Day of the Holo ARK Server

A tribe of three prepared a 20-dinosaur team, finished the fight in about a quarter of an hour, then spent the rest of the stream on photos, a train ride and one last egg hunt.

Kazama Iroha and her tribe-mates beat the boss on the Hololive ARK server on Sunday, the final day of a month-long run, in a stream billed as the last episode. The tribe was three players, among them Towa, and the fight came after hours of preparation that Iroha streamed on her channel. Chat marked the occasion with messages such as “thanks for the past month, everyone.”

Preparation took up the first half of the stream. The group hunted sheep and grilled the meat, stuffed food into the dinosaurs they planned to bring, and worked out which of them to take: the arena allows 20. They hunted for saddles for a crocodile and an elephant in particular, and went through loot crates in search of them. During the final crate pulls a saddle dropped, and one participant’s cheer was loud enough to trigger the noise cancellation on their microphone. Chat joked that “somebody’s gacha luck was sacrificed.” One large elephant, meant to take hits, fell asleep and could not be woken before the fight; the group put the blame on an update that had reset some settings. Armor was crafted from metal, with one set reaching a defense rating of 2,800.

The team entered the arena shortly before the two-hour mark and waited about three minutes before the fight began. Participants described the boss as a flying creature that had to come down before it could be hit hard, and said an ice worm joined the battle. They sustained damage with pump shotguns while dinosaurs known for giving buffs to nearby allies, including a Yutyrannus, boosted the team. The boss came down several times and went down in about 14 minutes. It left a crate holding a trophy and element resources. Participants said the fight had been somewhat easy, and that most of the dinosaurs survived. One member who had never fought a boss said they enjoyed supporting from behind.

Afterward the group posed for commemorative photos in front of their base with the trophy and their favorite dinosaurs, using the game’s photo mode, and one member built a pedestal for the trophy. They then flew pteranodons to the coast and took a motor boat past a fleet of pirate ships, including one that had won a pirate battle the day before. A senior member who ran the server’s train gave announcements for departure and the turnaround on a ride of about 15 minutes through scenery set to Celtic music. The group also visited the server’s photo studio, which displays screenshots taken by members. The ARK event had been extended until noon the next day for people short of time on the last evening, but the three said they already had plans. They said they would like to play ARK again, possibly after further updates.

The stream closed with a wyvern egg hunt at the volcano, in which several members were chased and several came back without an egg. A Minecraft stream was announced for 6 p.m. the same day, and the group agreed to go to a movie together as a wrap-up outing. In chat, viewers thanked Towa as the stream ended.
