ASOBI★MAWARI-TAI! Go From Dying on Landfall to Flying Pteranodons Together in ARK
On their first day on the Hololive ARK server, the four met a goal that senior members had set: catch Pteranodons and fly as a team.
HOLOLIVE — Four members of Hololive’s ASOBI★MAWARI-TAI! (Sorashina Sopia, Achichi Mela, Hyakuto Kyoko and Suzuna Tsuzuri) went from dying shortly after landfall to flying together on tamed Pteranodons during their first day on the Hololive ARK server (#ホロ鯖ARK) on Saturday. Each streamed from their own channel, and Sopia’s ran about four hours and 45 minutes. The goal, as they described it, was a mission from senior members: catch Pteranodons and take to the air as a team.
The start was rough. The group landed in a dangerous spot, was harassed by birds that steal items and was left freezing without clothes, and several of them died and respawned in the first stretch. Senior members stepped in. One arrived on a flying dinosaur, others passed along spare clothes and boots, and the newcomers were lent balls that hold dinosaurs and a mount big enough for three. Shirogane Noel messaged them in game and taught them a console command that made ARK run lighter. Mela fought a long voice delay on her connection, restarted the game several times and turned her graphics down. The group looked up what Pteranodons eat in the in-game dinosaur guide, which said they like fish.
“Sopia’s P is the P in PON, apparently.” — Sorashina Sopia, closing the stream
Tsuzuri, held up by a large game update and connection trouble, joined about two hours in after Mela flew out to find her using map coordinates. Tsuzuri’s own stream briefly cut out and came back soon after. Noel then photographed the four in otter outfits dyed in each member’s color, which she said she had made so she could take the pictures. Earlier, Sopia had gone looking for an oversized dinosaur dropping for a comedy bit, and after the photos the group presented one to Noel, who thanked them.
Taming came next. The four stopped wild Pteranodons with bolas and a crossbow loaded with tranquilizers, with Tsuzuri handling the crossbow, then fed them raw meat while the creatures’ taming meters crept up. Their first catch was named, roughly, “first Asobi tame”, for the group. Sopia also picked up a baby sheep she called Pipipi, which later vanished from view. Food and water ran short along the way, and Mela died in a fall.
In time all four rode Pteranodons at once, clearing the quest the seniors had given them. Mela then died of cold at a senior’s base and was cut off from the others until help from Shirakami Fubuki brought her back; she said she had feared dying alone. Noel photographed the four on their Pteranodons and hung the pictures in the gallery in her base.
Noel told the group the server was ending the next day and urged them to play again if Hololive opens another ARK server. Kyoko said she wants to take on bosses and caves next time as a powered-up ASOBI★MAWARI-TAI! and announced a Dark Souls stream. Mela announced a new stream for 8 p.m. Sopia signed off joking about “PON,” the running gag about her slip-ups.
