Kazama Iroha and Tokoyami Towa Clear a Trial Cave Through Server Rollbacks

Kazama Iroha and Tokoyami Towa cleared the trial cave on the Hololive talents’ ARK server, known as Holo-saba, late Wednesday Japan time, and came out with the artifact that Towa described as their ticket to the server’s boss fight. Towa said the only thing left was the boss itself.

Iroha’s stream, titled “Chores” (雑務), began with housekeeping at her base. She tended newly hatched creatures and went after more food, worried that the meat in her base had spoiled during a day away from the game. About an hour in, Towa joined her over voice chat. The two compared tamed creatures, whose vivid coloring drew comments in chat, then worked out how to transfer a creature’s ownership between them, testing it on a low-level Thylacoleo.

“The ticket to the boss fight is barely in hand.” — Tokoyami Towa, closing her stream

Towa had opened her own stream by saying the group was still missing an artifact it needed for the boss, and the two headed into the cave together. They packed medical brews, torches and scuba gear, carried a rough route memo and relied on voice directions for the rest. Buttons marked with letters had to be pressed in a set order to open doors. One stretch had to be crossed prone over heated ground, and a flooded section meant swimming past sharks. Swarms of insects and small Troodon, whose attacks knocked them out, slowed them at several doors. At one point Iroha raised the in-game brightness with a console command.

The obstacle course after that proved harder. Rollbacks, in which the server snaps characters back to an earlier state, struck during the climb, and both said they were afraid of another one. They agreed that a smaller character body would have made the jumps easier. The two split up at several points, with one going ahead to press buttons while the other doubled back, talking each other through the route. Iroha later told visitors that she had died along the way and come home, while the artifact itself was carried out by Towa.

Back at Iroha’s base, other server residents arrived by airship to look around, and Iroha supplied materials, including polymer she fetched, to repair their craft. During a lull the two also agreed to see the film of The Apothecary Diaries together, which they said opens Dec. 11. They then settled on daytime on the 8th for the boss fight, when schedules lined up. They said they would stock fighting dinosaurs such as tyrannosaurs and daeodons, and Iroha said she would level her mount Lumina by hunting wyverns. Iroha closed her stream by saying she had a collaboration stream the next night.
