Tokoyami Towa Retrieves an ARK Artifact, Then Goes Looking for a Halloween Dodorex

The Hololive streamer spent about three hours on Hololive’s ARK server before an in-game Halloween event interrupted her artifact hunt.

Tokoyami Towa of Hololive collected an artifact from a carnivore cave in ARK on Saturday, finding her way through a mushroom-lined passage by following written directions while narrating each turn aloud. When she reached the glow of the artifact, she cheered. Getting back out took her several more minutes of retracing her steps.

She opened the stream late, saying she had lost track of time practicing a dance. She told viewers she had meant to play into the evening but had forgotten a prior engagement, so she could only play until about the late afternoon. Early on she said she had finally leveled up enough to craft an industrial forge and could now make medical brews almost instantly.

“I haven’t lost anything yet.” — Tokoyami Towa, on her attempts at a trial course

About an hour in, an in-game Halloween event announcement about a Dodorex, a creature from the game, appeared with its own music. Towa read that it could not be tamed and could destroy a base, dealing 660,000 damage in five minutes, and she said she was afraid of where it might appear. She later set out with weapons to take a look at it and was hit almost immediately.

Her remaining time went to a trial course built around a button-and-door puzzle, which she tackled from memory and from guides she had watched, with her mount, Pyro, along. She mixed up which buttons went with which doors, and she had been reading the wrong guide, which cost her one attempt. Over two attempts she had not lost any of her animals, she said. She also said she did not want to go to the ocean alone, and listed the jungle and the sea as places left to visit.

Chat answered the Dodorex announcement with a burst of surprise emotes and questions. The stream drew 11 Super Chats. Towa closed by saying she had visited the carnivore cave, collected items and tried the trial, and called the day a productive one, adding that she hoped to play again if time allowed.
