Usada Pekora Wins Her Blueprint Gamble on the Third Try, Then Cuts an ARK Stream Short Over Glitches
After two failed attempts at 45.5 percent odds, the Hololive streamer’s third try worked on the server’s 21st day, but in-game rubber-banding ended the night early.
HOLOLIVE — Usada Pekora of Hololive won a blueprint gamble on her third attempt during a Halloween-night stream of ARK on the Hololive server on Saturday, after the first two tries failed at odds she put at 45.5 percent. She ended the stream about 2 hours 31 minutes in, earlier than planned, saying the game was running too poorly to continue.
She opened with a Halloween-themed self-introduction, said she had made cookies, and then turned to the game, where flying and riding creatures kept snapping back to where they had been. She said she had restarted several times to no effect, and that she was putting off the trials and boss fights because of it. Later, she said the server’s administrators had replied that they would try deleting wild dinosaurs once someone’s taming finished, and she cleared some herself.
“If it won’t drop, all I can do is gacha.” — Usada Pekora, before deciding to gamble
Her main goal on day 21 was a blueprint for an Acrocanthosaurus saddle, which she wanted for a boss fight. Treasure runs gave her other blueprints and two Tek swords but no Acrocanthosaurus, and she said that despite playing every day she had never pulled one herself. Around the one-hour mark she decided to gamble instead, converting spare blueprints at 45.5 percent odds. The first two attempts failed, with chat saying it was an unlucky day. The third worked and produced a cheap blueprint, and chat answered that a third try was the charm. She then learned that only wild blueprints can be put through the process again.
Soon after, she said she would skip a solo boss fight because of the glitches. Noel, on a Discord call, offered a high-quality saddle blueprint for her to borrow, and Pekora said it looked workable. Later she crafted Tek gear for the first time and died to a glitch while testing it.
Near the end she joined Noel and others on a Discord call to hunt a Dodorex, a boss that appears only during a 20-minute night window. The group attacked it from the air with Umbra and Luminas, but it was not defeated. They broke up the party with talk of a rematch. Pekora then said she hoped the problems would be fixed by the next stream and signed off. The stream drew 8 Super Chats.
