Anya Melfissa and Hyakuto Kyoko Spend Three and a Half Hours Tied Together in Friendly Steps
Bound by a rope in a game about walking home drunk, the pair ended their first collaboration short of the goal and promised to try again.
HOLOLIVE — Hololive Indonesia’s Anya Melfissa and Hyakuto Kyoko of Hololive played together for the first time on Saturday, spending more than three and a half hours roped together in the cooperative game Friendly Steps and signing off without having reached home. Kyoko’s stream was titled “We’re just trying to get home.”
In the game, two drunken characters are tied to each other and have to stumble through a series of obstacles to get home. Kyoko played a police officer, which Anya found worth teasing her about; Anya, who opened by introducing herself as an ancient weapon of Hololive, later described herself as the dagger to Kyoko’s cop. The first stretch was a lesson in tangling: the rope snagged on rubble, and within about 17 minutes Kyoko got stuck in a wall and could not be pulled free. Because she had touched a checkpoint on the way, the pair were able to return to it and carry on.
“We’re not even drunk anymore. We’re just trying to get through this.” — Anya Melfissa and Hyakuto Kyoko, two and a half hours in
From there the night was a run of falls, slips and recoveries. They unlocked banana-peel hats, a pumpkin head and a cat costume, tried a mushroom that made heads swell to giant size, and worked out that tripping on purpose and then pulling each other along could send a character flying. They also decided that twerking, once in a while, brought good luck on the narrowest stretches. Between attempts they traded notes on how babies are said to sound in different languages, talked about cooking and pasta, and said a version for three or four players would be far more chaotic than their two-player run.
The pair said they were no longer drunk by the two-and-a-half-hour mark and suspected they were only making excuses not to go home. Not long after, they cleared a narrowing stretch together for the first time. The last section kept them stuck for more than an hour, and they ended the stream still short of the finish, promising to come back for it. Before signing off, one of them said she would be playing another game about half an hour later, and the other said an original song music video would premiere at 9 p.m. JST that day.
Viewers filled the chat with greetings in several languages at the start and with thanks at the end.
