Karu Spends a 99-Minute Stream Reading, With Viewers Invited to Sit Alongside
The Algorhythm Project streamer opened with new background music and said he would rather get letters than gifts for an anniversary in December.
ALGORHYTHM PROJECT — Karu, a Thai-speaking virtual streamer with Algorhythm Project’s Celestial Operation: Gemini, held a 99-minute reading stream on Nov. 6. The title, in Thai, said he was sitting AFK with a book and asked viewers to come sit beside him.
He opened by greeting viewers one by one, reading out the names of those who had come in. He said he had wanted to sit down and read, and to vlog the session too, and that he had added new background music for it. Chat, which greeted him with waves and hellos, said the stream felt like having a friend at the next table in a cafe.
“I’ll miss you all very much.” — Karu, signing off
Early on he said he was looking forward to December, which he tied to an anniversary, and told viewers they did not need to buy him anything. What he wanted instead, he said, were letters. Chat joked about having AI write a hundred of them, and others answered that a letter written by hand would come with misspellings. Viewers also teased him as a doting “aunt” and asked him to read the book aloud; one said the aunt had already disappeared into the world of the novel.
Later, he read out a request from chat to eat closer to the microphone, and viewers wrote about the crunch of a snack over the quiet music. At the close he turned to chat’s talk of the orange, evening-toned background, which a viewer said looked like Thailand at dusk. He wished everyone a smooth working week, blew several kisses and said he would miss them all before ending the stream.
