Shiori Novella, Anya Melfissa and Vestia Zeta played the co-op game GONE Fishing together in an 84-minute stream on Shiori’s channel. What was billed as a quiet fishing game turned into a scramble to feed a daily quota while monsters kept turning up in the dark.

The group spent the opening minutes sorting out lobby problems and dressing their characters, then got into the world around the seven-minute mark. They learned the basics as they went: worms serve as bait, fish can be cooked, sold to a trader or sacrificed to demons, and a cave offered a gamble that rarely paid off. The first sacrifice drew a sudden monster that sent the group scattering, and later nights brought a crocodile, a spider and tentacles.

Much of the evening went on trial and error. A stray cat followed the group around and fetched bait, a crab trap and a net took some figuring out, and a banjo found along the way got a try as a fishing aid. Players were drowned, bitten and killed, one of them at the hands of a monster that found them while they fished. Another player’s attempt to throw dynamite into the water ended with a blast that, as it turned out, sent the player back to the starting point. The group had also set the game to a mode with monsters switched on, and noted the mix-up when the creatures appeared.

By about the 71-minute mark the game announced day seven and said two new maps, a jungle and a swamp, had been unlocked. The group explored other areas instead of finishing that day, and the night ended when a monster smashed through a window after the group failed to feed it. The three said goodbye at about the 84-minute mark.

Chat filled the stream with laughing and shocked emotes, and the five Super Chats included a birthday message.
