Finana Ryugu Goes From Level 11 to 14 in MapleStory Classic After Chat Talks Her Into NX
Starting out broke with no potions, the NijiEN streamer spent a long stretch of the broadcast rolling for a new hairstyle and face before finishing a Kerning City errand.
NIJISANJI — Finana Ryugu of Nijisanji’s LazuLight spent nearly three hours in MapleStory Classic, taking her character from level 11 to level 14 while short on money, potions and, by her own account, patience with the game’s economy.
She opened the stream at level 11 with no NX, the game’s cash currency, and no teleport, and had to buy a handful of oranges to restore health. She hit level 12 about 15 minutes in, and viewers explained the game’s town citizenship system as she asked what it was. Later she chose Kerning City citizenship, saying its rewards would suit a magician, and turned in 30 maple leaves for it near the end. Along the way she hunted the pigs a quest required, hopping channels when other players crowded the maps.
“I actually really love this game a lot. It’s my childhood game, actually.” — Finana Ryugu, near the end of the stream
The longest stretch came after viewers urged her to spend on cosmetics. She rolled mystery boxes for a hairstyle and a face, accepted a nostalgic hairstyle on an early try, then hit several duplicate results before landing a face she wanted. Fashion crates followed, and she ended up in kitty slippers and a cat-themed outfit, joking that she was resigned to being a kitty cat girl at level 12. “Blame chat. They enabled me,” she said.
Viewers questioned the gacha system, with one noting it would not let her keep her old look, and cheered when the roll finally came through. Eleven Super Chats came in during the stream, and she thanked donors by name as they arrived.
Ryugu said she planned another MapleStory Classic stream next Friday, just before Tokyo FanFest, and called that a tentative goal. Her next task in the game was collecting octopus legs.
