Sorashina Sopia, Achichi Mela, Suzuna Tsuzuri and Hyakuto Kyoko of Hololive’s ASOBI MAWARI-TAI! unit played an early build of hololive Majong -holojan- (ホロライブ麻雀 -ホロじゃん-), Hololive’s new mahjong app, on Wednesday. Each of the four streamed the session from their own channel, and they praised the game’s assist features as they played.

The group described itself as mostly beginners. At the start of the game the app marked recommended discards, which the players followed, and it also flagged dangerous tiles. By the end they said it also shows which tiles a hand is waiting on and which hands are within reach. They also noted that stamps, riichi effects and the music that plays when a player declares riichi can be customized.

“I overthought and ran out of time a few times, but luck helped me out.” — Sorashina Sopia, closing the stream

Time limits shaped the first match. The players said unlimited time is not yet available in friend matches, and several of them ran out of the clock and had a tile discarded for them. Partway through, one participant realized the setting had been on a shorter limit than intended and apologized; the longest option turned out to be 20 seconds plus 30. With the game’s official program about to start, the group then chose the fastest setting, 5 seconds plus 5, and played quick single-round games.

In one of those games Sopia won a haneman, a hand worth 18,000 points. The others reacted with surprise, and one of them said they would try again next time. Closing the session, the group said the assist features made the game approachable for newcomers and enjoyable for Hololive fans.

The four said the Holojan official program was starting about a minute later and invited viewers to watch it with them; Sopia posted its link in chat. Sopia also said she would hold a singing stream at 8 the next evening, a hobby-driven set of rock songs she compared to a karaoke outing.
