Sendo Yuuhi Sees All Three Endings of Potato Please After Four Hours of Peeling
The VSpo streamer played the newly released game from a first attempt that left her hands shaking to an automated depot, then reloaded a save to see the other endings.
VSPO — Sendo Yuuhi of VSpo played through Potato Please, an indie game about peeling potatoes at a wartime supply depot, on Sunday and saw all three of its endings in a stream that ran about four hours and ten minutes. She said the game came out on Nov. 3 and that she had wanted to play it since before its release.
She opened by saying she could not sleep and that simple work suited the hour. Her first peeling attempts went badly: her hands shook on the mouse, she cut away most of the edible part of the first potatoes and said the controls were hard. She got steadier within the first half hour, but the game took so much attention that she could not read chat for long stretches. When the pace finally allowed it, around the time she bought a peeler, she told viewers she could talk with them again. Chat answered with a run of jokes about smooth potatoes.
“I don’t want to work, yet the work becomes fun. Funny, isn’t it, being human?” — Sendo Yuuhi, midway through the stream
The work changed as she bought upgrades. She called the switch to the peeler the most satisfying moment of the game, and an automatic peeler soon made her “just press the space bar.” Later her job became hauling buckets and bags of potatoes, clearing snow and operating a crane, which she found hard to control. She joked that the machines had taken the warmth out of the work. Between batches she read orders from the depot’s supply ministry and letters from the son of the man she played, including requests for money she could not always cover, and she decided how to answer each one.
When the quota ran out, the game gave her a key and a choice of where to send a loaded train. She chose the resistance first, which ended with the depot worker and his son Pavel meeting different fates. She then loaded a save to try other destinations, one that sent the food to the village and one to the front, and said the third ending came out as a kind of happy one. Two achievements stayed out of reach: one that asks for 1,000 potatoes peeled by hand, which she could not finish with no potatoes left in her save, and a final secret one. She said she would stop there but that viewers might want to try.
She closed by saying it was a good game and one she would recommend for a slow day. Viewers sent 10 Super Chats and Stickers, and she read out the thanks. She also announced a stream at 7 a.m. on Monday built around the T1 versus BLG match.
