Eepy Sleepy Plays Link From Boy to Hero, Clearing Forest Temple in Ocarina of Time Remake
The second stream of the playthrough took Link out of Jabu-Jabu’s Belly, through the seven-year time skip and on to the first sage.
PHASE CONNECT — Eepy Sleepy carried Link from childhood to adulthood on Saturday in a stream of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake, finishing the Forest Temple and awakening its sage in a broadcast that ran just over five hours.
The stream picked up where the previous day’s left off, after Link had helped the Gorons. Eepy Sleepy began in Zora’s Domain, buying magic beans and playing for the frogs, before King Zora asked Link to find his daughter, Princess Ruto. Inside Lord Jabu-Jabu’s Belly, Link carried Ruto through the dungeon, picked up the boomerang and defeated the boss Barinade. Ruto handed over the Zora Sapphire, which she described as an engagement ring. Eepy Sleepy compared the remake’s new details with the original throughout, noting that the dungeon had been made bigger and its mini-boss fight given extra enemies.
“I like seeing all the stuff interact with the world. It’s so pretty here.” — Eepy Sleepy, in Zora’s Domain
After Ganondorf chased Zelda out of Castle Town, Link pulled the Master Sword and woke seven years later as an adult. Eepy Sleepy went on to win the gravekeeper’s race in the Kakariko graveyard for the Hookshot, played the Song of Storms for the angry man at the windmill, and passed through the Lost Woods, where Mido let Link through after he played Saria’s song. Inside the Forest Temple, Link fought the four Poe sisters and then Phantom Ganon, and Saria awakened as the Forest Sage.
Chat reacted loudest to the long King Zora cutscene, and many viewers cheered the remake’s camera work. Great Fairy designs drew chat reactions of alarm, and a Super Chat asked which song in the remake was worse than in the original. 21 paid messages came in. Eepy Sleepy named no song, saying she was not especially fond of the original’s sound font to begin with.
Eepy Sleepy ended the night in the Hall of Fallen Foes, a dream space with statues of the monsters Link has beaten, 50 in all, because her ears had begun to hurt after about five hours. She said there would be no more streams until the following week, when a collab was planned, with more Zelda to follow.
