Dr.NOVA(e) Clears Zelda’s Forest Temple, Then Races a Concert Deadline Into the Fire Temple

She left the Fire Temple with a big hammer in hand but without every Goron saved, then moved to a fellow streamer’s channel to watch a concert.

Dr.NOVA(e) of V4Mirai spent nearly four hours on a Legend of Zelda playthrough on Saturday, finishing the Forest Temple, working through a stretch of the game’s childhood and adult timelines, and reaching the Fire Temple’s big hammer before she had to stop for a concert.

The stream opened with a new look: a blonde-and-green hair design that she said did not suit her. She also tried a horizontal, news-ticker style chat overlay, moving it around the screen and calling it more disruptive than regular chat. About 14 minutes in she put normal chat back, saying the ticker might work for a non-gaming stream but was too distracting for a game. She then said that this was the highlight of her week and that she wanted a day of long playthroughs in her regular schedule.

“I fell into lava, but that’s not a death.” — Dr.NOVA(e), on her no-death record

She cleared the Forest Temple’s boss around the hour-and-a-half mark, then watched the scene in which Saria becomes a sage and Link learns he has been away for seven years. Through the middle of the stream she grew increasingly sure she would not touch the Water Temple that day. She took Link back to his childhood to drain a Kakariko well with an ocarina song, which she joked had caused a drought in the village, and came away with the Lens of Truth after a fight with a boss she did not remember from her own childhood.

Viewers reported the stream cutting out for a few seconds several times. Dr.NOVA(e) said her stream health looked excellent, later saw the bitrate dip in her broadcast software, ran a speed test and kept playing.

With a concert to watch that evening, she entered the Fire Temple with about 40 minutes to spare and said she was going to try to finish it. She stopped after taking a big hammer, the Megaton Hammer, without saving every Goron. She said the concert would play on the V4Mirai channel and that she would host a watch-along on Miss Paige Turner’s channel, and that she would be back the next day for more Zelda.
