Ichijou Ririka Meets Princess Zelda, Learns Four Ocarina Songs in Ocarina of Time
The second part of her first-time playthrough ran about four hours, twice the length she had planned.
HOLOLIVE — Ichijou Ririka of hololive’s ReGLOSS played the second part of her first-time run through The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on Saturday, taking Link from Hyrule Castle Town to a meeting with Princess Zelda and on to four ocarina songs. She opened by going back over the story so far, then played the ocarina Saria gave Link. The notes still came out as a squeak, she said, but she expected to improve as she went.
In the castle town she played the shooting gallery, where a perfect score earns a bigger seed bag. She kept the gyro aiming on, blamed it for some early misses, then decided to finish with it still on and expanded the bag to 50. Getting into the castle meant slipping past guards, and she was sent back out more than once before she reached Zelda. The princess told her about the Triforce and her fears about Ganondorf. Zelda’s nurse Impa then taught Link Zelda’s Lullaby, which Ririka had trouble playing at the highest note before getting it down.
“I might like Saria better than Zelda. It feels like we talk at the same eye level. The princess is a little scary.” — Ichijou Ririka, after meeting Saria
At Lon Lon Ranch she learned Epona’s Song from Malon. In a game with the ranch owner Talon, she picked the right bird every time, and chat asked whether it really was her first time. In the Sacred Forest Meadow she learned Saria’s Song, and later, after a fight with a pair of ghost brothers in the Royal Family’s Tomb, Sun’s Song. She said getting the notes right was harder than beating the enemies.
In Kakariko Village she tried a digging tour that charges per dig. After several misses, the top prize turned up near the end. A request from a woman there to round up her escaped cuccos, and a man she hoped to help, went unfinished. She said she would come back once she was stronger, then set off up the Death Mountain trail and stopped there. Chat sent “Is this really your first time?” at the ranch and called her cute as she played the ocarina.
She had planned a stream of about two hours. At the end she said she expects to get the next gem in the following session, which she scheduled for Monday, Nov. 9, at 9 p.m. because of work earlier that day.
