Ichijou Ririka of Hololive’s ReGLOSS won her second match of an early-access build of hololive Majong -holojan- (ホロライブ麻雀 -ホロじゃん-) on Thursday, finishing with a self-drawn mangan worth 8,000 points to take first place. She had lost the first game of the evening.

The stream opened with a connection fault on YouTube. Ririka cut the stream, reconnected and greeted viewers again before turning to the game, which she said is due out Nov. 25. She played through its story mode, which opens with a cutscene in which Hololive talents enter a mahjong tournament where the champion is promised any wish. Players pick a character to support, and Ririka chose her own, a company president in the story. She also sat through a mahjong lesson led by Koyori’s character, winning the tutorial hand with a riichi and a bonus tile flipped over after the win, and tried the game’s home screen, where gifts such as a tiara raise a character’s affinity and unlock voice lines and story entries.

“Ah, it feels good to finish like this.” — Ichijou Ririka, after taking first place

In single-player mode she picked her opponents and played two matches. In the first she struggled, discarded the wrong tile at one point and watched her affinity with one opponent fall. In the second, which she started on random settings, she fell behind early, then pressed ahead with riichi calls and drew a strong hand late in the match, completing a mangan to finish on top. She said she only knows rough scoring and tile efficiency, but that the game’s automatic scoring and guides make it easy to play without knowing the rules.

Ririka asked viewers to post screenshots of their games with the game’s hashtag. She said she plans to stream again at 9 p.m. the following evening, Japan time, and will announce a new time if work runs late.
