Senri Ayumu Starts Her First-Ever Ocarina of Time Playthrough on the Remake’s Release Day
The Nijisanji streamer, who said she had held off for months, took Link from Kokiri Forest to a meeting with Princess Zelda in a stream of more than four hours.
NIJISANJI — Nijisanji’s Senri Ayumu began her first playthrough of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on Thursday, the day the remake went on sale, and carried Link from Kokiri Forest to his meeting with Princess Zelda over a stream of about four hours and 15 minutes.
She opened by saying she had waited for this release. After playing Link’s Awakening about a month after her debut, and hearing from a senior colleague that Ocarina of Time was especially good, she said she had decided to save the remake for a first-time play. She had not even launched the game before going live, so that she and viewers could watch the opening movie together, and she asked that nobody spoil the puzzles or the story. She said she plans to continue the series on weekday afternoons.
“This much loss this early, wow.” — Senri Ayumu, after the Great Deku Tree withered
In the forest she wandered off the main path, cutting grass, lifting pots and talking to everyone, and gathered the Deku Shield and the Kokiri Sword that the boy Mido demanded before he would let her through. Inside the Great Deku Tree she lost hearts to a Deku Scrub after forgetting how to raise her shield, a slip she joked about after clearing the dungeon and its boss. She also picked up the Gold Skulltula tokens along the way. When the Great Deku Tree withered and handed over the Kokiri’s Emerald, she called the loss heavy for so early in the game.
After Saria gave her an ocarina as a parting gift, Senri went back through the Lost Woods, where she traded with Business Scrubs for a larger seed bag and a bigger stick capacity. In Hyrule Castle Town she chased small errands: she caught a bug for the apothecary and cleared the shooting gallery with a perfect score on her first try, which raised her seed bag again. She spent time simply looking at the town, pointing out the embroidery on the cloth, the lighting in the Temple of Time and the sound of the controller’s rumble under a waterfall.
She sneaked past the castle guards to reach Zelda, who told her of the Triforce, the three Spiritual Stones and the Ocarina of Time, and who named Ganondorf as the man she distrusted. Senri ended the stream as Zelda’s attendant Impa began to speak, said she wished she could keep playing, and told viewers she would pick the game up again the next day at 1 p.m.
