Hoshikuzu Planei Closes Gundam Battle Operation 2 Rating Session at S-Minus
A close call at the base and a lost match to a second bomber shaped a night of Gundam Hammer play that ended with a win.
SPECIALITE — Hoshikuzu Planei of Specialite (JP 2nd Generation) played rated matches in Gundam Battle Operation 2 on Thursday night, built around the Gundam Hammer, and finished the stream at S-minus rank. Planei said the rating had been moving in and out of S-minus since the night before, and ended the stream saying it was good to finish there.
The opening match had a scare. Late in the round an enemy unit wore down the team’s base far faster than Planei expected, and it held only when time ran out. Planei said afterward that the melee attacks of some units do extra damage to bases, something Planei had not known, and that it was a reminder to stay away from the base when possible.
“I thought, let’s make sure we take the base bombs out properly.” — Hoshikuzu Planei, after losing a match to a base bomb
Base bombs, which can swing a match in its last minute, decided much of the night. In one match an enemy planted a bomb, then a second enemy arrived to keep it from being disarmed, and the base blew up. Planei said the team had needed to take it out together, and after the loss gave a rule of thumb: base bombs can be ignored only when the score gap is around 5,000 points, and inside 4,000 they should always be removed. Later wins came the same way. One match was settled by a disarm that Planei described as a plea that happened to land, and the last match of the night ended in a win after the team defended its base. Another loss came with a team that was almost entirely Gundam units.
Midway through, the stream stuttered for a few minutes. Planei asked viewers whether it was coming through, and chat said it was back; Planei noted that streams had been unstable the previous night too. Between matches Planei talked about metallic spray paint on a plastic model, which used up a can before the job was done, and said the next project would be a model in Planei’s own image colors.
Planei said the next day’s stream would be for members only, and that a schedule for the week might be posted if it could be finished in time.
