Iida Pochi Streams a Workday From a New In-Game Desk in a Minecraft Town
A hunt for zombie noises led to a forgotten hollow under the town, and an underground bamboo harvester drew its own share of attention.
INDEPENDENT — Iida Pochi, an independent streamer, spent Wednesday afternoon on a *sagyo zatsudan*, a work-and-chat stream, sitting at a desk newly built inside a Minecraft house while getting on with drawing work on an iPad. The stream opened late. Pochi apologized, saying an update to the streaming software OBS had wiped out settings and caused an error, and that the start time had been mixed up on top of it.
Before settling down, Pochi toured the town. The house was built so the game could be left running unattended: its copper roof is meant to weather to green, which takes a long time. Behind it is a bookstore, and a door from the shop leads into Pochi’s room, complete with a microphone, an iPad stand and a window-side seat. A lighthouse and a small boat landing stand nearby, and an aquarium holds tropical fish bought from a wandering trader, whose color choices Pochi found hard to like, along with a baby turtle.
“Listen while you work, or while you eat, however you like. Nothing moves on the screen, so just the sound is fine.” — Iida Pochi, to viewers working through the afternoon
The game kept interrupting the work. The cushions Pochi had used as white window frames had vanished, and after a viewer’s suggestion Pochi found a way to place the trapdoors without breaking them, calling it a big relief. Later, zombie sounds from somewhere under the town sent Pochi digging through walls and floors until the search uncovered a hollow left over from building the aquarium, which Pochi covered with torches. Near the end, a lightning strike hit the character and broke a cushion, and Pochi closed the stream against a sunrise.
Pochi also showed an underground facility: a sugarcane harvester that feeds an auto-crafter making paper, and a piston bamboo harvester that collects the crop and turns it into bamboo blocks, so wood arrives with no lumberjacking. Pochi said the character still has no elytra, has not visited a Nether fortress and badly wants shulker boxes, and floated plans for a Japanese-style district, a European-style one and a hot-air balloon. A drowned trap, kept for copper, was piled with tridents. Between builds the talk drifted to travel videos, trips on a transit card and a manga volume Pochi urged viewers to read.
Viewers in chat said they were at work, coming off night shift or on leave, and Pochi told them the stream could simply play in the background. Near the end Pochi asked viewers how many packs of a card-sleeve design they would buy, and many answered that they would buy two, one as a spare. Pochi closed by saying the next stream would, with luck, show the town a step further along.
