Ver Vermillion Spends Halloween Night Turning Away Doppelgangers in That’s Not My Neighbor
The Nijisanji EN streamer went in knowing nothing about the game, and a title billed as an hour-long play ran past three hours.
NIJISANJI — Ver Vermillion of Nijisanji EN spent Halloween night playing That’s Not My Neighbor, a horror game in which the player works as an apartment building’s doorman and decides who gets in. The stream ran just over three hours. Vermillion said horror is not something he plays often and that he knew almost nothing about the game beforehand beyond its popular milkman character.
He said he had passed on other horror titles that viewers suggested, one over its use of AI art and another over reports that streamers were being demonetized, before settling on this one. He opened by taking chat’s Halloween greetings, telling a story about a homemade Naruto costume his mother stitched for him as a child, and switching into a second outfit for the occasion. He muted the game’s tutorial music after hearing it could trigger demonetization. Four Super Chats arrived, and he read several of them aloud.

In the game, he checked each applicant’s appearance against a folder, a list of approved residents and, as the days went on, ID cards, entry request forms and the way each neighbor talked. Phone calls to the apartments helped him catch impostors. He also had to answer trivia questions put to him by a recurring character named Chester, one of which led him to learn about chess boxing. Mistakes piled up over the evening, and he asked viewers to help spot details after the two-hour mark, later thanking them while asking them to avoid spoilers.
At chat’s urging he dialed a clown hotline number, which opened a harder nightmare mode that ended with him being eaten. Later he called a number tied to a character called Dr. Afton, and the run ended in a scene that left him warning viewers not to mess with that character. After he answered every one of Chester’s questions correctly, the character offered to take him to its superiors, and Vermillion agreed, to his own dismay a moment later.
Vermillion said a search showed the game is billed at about an hour and 17 minutes, so he was surprised it kept going; he stopped after letting the milkman through at the close. He ended in character, asking the camera to let him in as a doppelganger while chat shouted for his removal. He also said a collaboration game stream was planned for around the 11th or 12th.
