Choya Hanabi Looks Back on Her Anniversary Live and Sets Third-Year Goals Over Cake
The VSpo streamer, who barely slept after her 3D concert, said she wants to try a new genre in her third year.
VSPO — Choya Hanabi of VSpo marked the start of her third year on Tuesday with a relaxed recap stream, eating strawberry cake the day after her second-anniversary 3D live. She opened by announcing that she had finally gained a “tanto,” a fan-given label for the thing a talent is known for: “otenba tanto,” roughly the spirited, tomboyish one. She said the idea came from a fellow talent, Kyupi-chama, during the MC segment of the 3D live, and that she had liked it enough to keep it. Chat greeted the news with a wave of “otenba tanto” messages.
On her desk were a Dodekamin Big, water, a new strawberry drink from Starbucks and a strawberry fresh-chocolate cake. She said she had been awake until about 4 a.m. after returning to her hotel, slept for an hour, lay awake again until about 7 and finally slept until checkout. She called her state a near all-nighter.
“Yesterday I honestly thought, I’m happy to be alive. No joke.” — Choya Hanabi, near the end of the stream
She then went through the planning behind the concert. Putting the setlist together took months, she said, and she consulted her vocal teacher. Two points were settled first: the show would open with 蝶影繚乱 and close with her original song Retsujitsu. She said the live’s title was in fact the song’s title, which already existed when the title was chosen, and that she had planned the final MC to lead into it as a payoff. The song is available on streaming services. She said she had practiced “an unreasonable amount” for it because the composer’s songs are difficult to sing.
She also showed two support advertisements bought by fans at Akihabara Station on the Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line, both just to the right after the ticket gate and running through the 8th, and photos from the live: a picture with Muu-san that showed a height gap of roughly 20 centimeters, heart-shaped poses with Moka and Noa that did not always line up, and a shot with Kyupi-chama, with whom she shared a rap section. Afterward she described what she would do if Kyupi-chama visited her home, a pizza party, and noted that her place holds only a bed and a desk. The cleaner-mascot version of her character Mitarashi made a brief appearance near the end.
Looking ahead, Hanabi said she wants to take on a new genre in her third year and to share her hobbies of studying and reading with viewers. She also wants more singing streams and a rethink of her non-chat content, and she wants people to feel glad they followed her. She described the plan as keeping her foundation and adding to it, at a relaxed pace. She signed off to take about an hour’s nap and said a morning stream would follow on Wednesday.
