Hyakuto Kyoko’s Cuphead Fight With King Dice Ends in an Apparent Glitch
After more than two hours working through the casino’s dice-picked bosses, the final fight stopped short, and she said she would not count it as a win.
HOLOLIVE — Hyakuto Kyoko of Hololive reached the end of King Dice’s casino in Cuphead on Tuesday, but the fight ended in what she took to be a glitch, and she said it did not feel like a real victory. “I did defeat King Dice, but I am not sure about it,” she said later in the stream. “That doesn’t really count as winning for me.”
She opened by saying she had already beaten the game’s other bosses on regular difficulty. The King Dice stage works like a board game: she rolled dice to decide which boss she would face next, and the numbers rolled also picked up extra health along the way. Over the stream she worked out which rolls she wanted, saying two and seven were her friendliest fights and that she wanted to avoid the monkey, whom she eventually declared banned from the casino. She also griped that the dice, in pink, were hard on her eyes.
“Guys, I can’t win like this.” — Hyakuto Kyoko, as the King Dice fight ended
The fight with King Dice himself finally came after about two and a half hours of play. While she was still taking hits, he stopped fighting properly and the battle ended abruptly. “I don’t want to win like this,” she said, and asked chat whether it had been a bug. She suggested the game may have gotten confused, or that the boss had grown tired of watching her roll, and said she might try again. Chat took it with laughter, joking that the boss had given up.
She then turned to reading Super Chats, of which the stream drew 31, answering puns and trivia about the game’s animation and its 1930s cartoon influences. She also said she planned to do members-only streams in both Japanese and English.
Kyoko said she will face the Devil himself in Cuphead next week. Before that, she was to play Phasmophobia with Lui at 10 p.m. Japan time on Tuesday, and she said she will play Deadlock with Gigi on Wednesday.
