Toto Kogara Wins a Solo-Queue Apex Legends Match as Lifeline, but the Revive Shield Counter Stays Put

The VSpo streamer went into the match to see whether Lifeline’s revive shield would raise the damage-blocked number on her banner tracker.

Toto Kogara of VSpo (Lupinus Virtual Games) won a solo-queue match of Apex Legends as Lifeline on Friday, finishing a stream of about two hours with an Apex Champion result.

The match was the point of the stream. Early on, Kogara said the number on her Lifeline banner tracker that records damage blocked by the revive shield had never moved, and that the session was to see whether it would rise. She played the character through several rounds with teammates she did not know, using the revive shield and drone as the situation called for. In the closing rings, opposing squads threw an unusually large number of grenades at her position. She said Lifeline’s healing was the only reason she had not gone down twice there, and later called it the most grenades she had been thrown in all her time playing the game.

“I think that might be the most grenades I’ve ever had thrown at me in all my time playing Apex.” — Toto Kogara, after the win

After the win she checked the tracker. It did not appear to have gone up. She noted that the in-game description of the ability says it deploys a protective shield, and said the counter might simply not apply to it, though she could not tell whether the shield had been shot during the match. At the close of the stream she asked viewers who own the same tracker to test it themselves and report back, and said her own guess was that the number would not increase.

Chat cheered the victory in the minute after it, and thirteen Super Chats arrived as she read messages aloud at the end. One viewer told her about a university interview on Sunday, and she wished them luck. She signed off with a close-up of her model at a viewer’s request.
