Syusetsu Kohaku Reunites With Hasechi for a Late-Night Apex Legends Session

A message from Hasechi turned into a surprise 190-minute stream that closed with a narrow loss.

Syusetsu Kohaku of REJECT played Apex Legends with Hasechi in a late-night session that ran 190 minutes, their first time playing together in about three months by their own count. The stream was billed as an invited late-night Apex session with Hasechi.

The evening came together on short notice. Kohaku said they had been lying in bed when a message from Hasechi arrived and, with nothing else on, decided to play. Early on the two went looking for a third player to fill out a squad, sent a message to friends and got no reply, so they carried on as a duo with matchmade teammates, saying they would bring a third in if an answer came.

“I thought about taking today off. But then, if Apex comes along, you play it, right?” — Syusetsu Kohaku, on nearly taking the night off

The pair chatted through match after match, trading callouts and comparing notes on legends and weapons. They kept returning to the EVA-8 shotgun, which they called strong. One of the participants said a new Call of Duty: Warzone release was due at 2 p.m. the next day and that sleep was unlikely. In one match a fight in the final ring fell apart after a string of mishaps, and one of them called it a freak accident. The last match of the night ended just short, and the two signed off on the game with “GG” and a promise to play again.

Chat welcomed the reunion, and some viewers had assumed Kohaku was taking the day off. Eight paid messages came in, which Kohaku read near the end. Answering one of them, Kohaku said they had considered resting but chose to play once Apex came up.

With Hasechi gone, Kohaku unmuted, thanked viewers for coming to the unplanned stream and said another stream was set for 8 p.m. the next day, a work-related broadcast. A stream on the 7th was also possible.
