Hayato Kagami Sails Into the New World and Clears a Sea in ONE PIECE Grand Gourmet
In the fifth episode of the series, the Nijisanji streamer beat the rival restaurant by what he called his widest margin yet.
NIJISANJI — Hayato Kagami of Nijisanji took his floating restaurant into the New World on Thursday, then cleared that sea by the end of the night, in the fifth episode of his ONE PIECE Grand Gourmet (海のごちそうレストラン) series, a restaurant-management game built around the ONE PIECE manga. The broadcast ran about 3 hours 35 minutes.
Kagami started about three minutes late after trouble getting the stream to go live. He opened by noting that the New World, which the story calls the second half of the Grand Line, was where the game was headed, and that it was the point in the manga where the crew begins clashing with the Four Emperors. Early in the stream he spent time on upgrades and decorations, fitting out the restaurant with commemorative statues and models and matching crew members to the menu items and requests they wanted.
“From here it’s the New World. Let’s go, you lot. The New World. Don!” — Hayato Kagami, as the restaurant set sail
About 20 minutes in, the restaurant set off. “From here it’s the New World. Let’s go, you lot,” he said, and the first visitors of the new sea began to arrive, among them Fujitora, whom he said he loves. Characters from the Punk Hazard area followed, including Vergo, Caesar, Koala and Carrot. Later in the night, Sabo arrived and, with Ace, completed the set of the three brothers; Kagami called it a long-awaited moment, and Dressrosa characters also became regulars.
The evening’s main contest was the sales race against the rival restaurant. Kagami said his rival’s takings looked beatable at around 3.8 million berries, and he won by what he called the widest gap he had seen. The sea’s reputation was restored, the game declared it conquered, and the restaurant held a feast and moved on to the next sea. Late in the stream the Revolutionary Army leader Dragon also became a fan of the restaurant.
Along the way he recalled a video a friend had sent him that calculated the odds of Zoro’s sword gamble with Sandai Kitetsu, and spent a stretch talking about the ONE PIECE Card Game with viewers. Wrapping up, Kagami said the game has a 50-day business target and he was now on day 44, so the next episode looks likely to head toward the final stretch. He signed off at about 3 hours 34 minutes.
