Gigi Murin, New to NIKKE, Draws a Blank on the Marian Pickup After a Prologue Loss
The first-time player then read much of the game’s fourth-anniversary event story, in which a doctor sends out copy after copy of the same soldier.
HOLOLIVE — Gigi Murin spent a sponsored stream of more than four and a half hours playing Goddess of Victory: NIKKE for the first time, and the recruitment pulls she made for the event character Marian did not turn her up.
Murin began with the game’s prologue as a new player, wearing a bandage-and-hat look in the style of the character Marian. In the story, Marian is corrupted and left behind. Murin kept up a running denial, saying she could fix her and that no shot had been shown. When the scene ended, Murin turned to the lobby with “Guys, it’s time for gacha,” meaning the game’s randomized recruitment pulls, and said a replacement was needed.
“Guys, it’s time for gacha. We have to get another one.” — Gigi Murin, after losing a squad member in the prologue
The pulls came after the event rewards were claimed. Murin aimed them at Marian, the unit tied to the anniversary event, and watched one result after another that was not her (“That doesn’t look like her”). Later she picked from a wish list of characters and still drew none, saying “They don’t want me.” Told in chat that the luck was poor, she asked whether it was really that bad. Payment on the store packs failed on her computer, so she started downloading the game to her phone, ran out of space, deleted apps to make room, and set aside a later login problem as a job for her future self.
The second half of the stream was the anniversary event story, which follows Marian and the doctor who made her. Murin read through the doctor’s repeated sending-out of new copies, the casualty records that piled up and the effort to reach a target location, then the scenes of the copies fighting side by side, the cruelty of the early commanders and the arrival of a kinder commander who gave Marian a bandage. The last scenes ended on a cliffhanger.
Chat greeted the first loss with “Stage 1: Denial” and “No body no death,” and welcomed her to the game. During the pulls viewers called out for “1 more pull.” The stream drew 20 Super Chats and Stickers. Murin said the next part of the story was due on Nov. 4 and signed off after about 4 hours 28 minutes.
