Tokiha Shiu Frees Captive Allies, Reaches the Axis Pillar’s Base in Trails in the Sky

UNIRAID! — Tokiha Shiu, a member of the agency Uniraid!, led her party out of a captured airship and up to the foot of the Axis Pillar on Tuesday, a long stretch of exploration in Chapter 15 of Trails in the Sky the 2nd that ended with her saying the next stream may be the last. It is her first time playing the series.

The stream opened with Shiu exploring the ancient floating city of Liberark, where she tried out its invisible-rail transit system, hunted for treasure chests and spent much of the evening in battle. Early on she set herself a goal of racking up 200 uses of the game’s Chain attack for an achievement, and she announced it done a little under two hours in, after which she said she would not chase the 300 mark. Her party’s characters also reached level 90 along the way.

The story moved when Josette, a young woman the party had met earlier, rejoined them and joined the party. Together they slipped back aboard the enemy airship, reached the cell where the girl’s brothers were held and, after finding a security card, got them out. In the middle of the trip a fight with a mechanized boss drew a run of reactions in chat, including “slide-into-a-bow groveling” and “all-in on the gag.”

The evening’s one setback came a little under four hours in. After missing a pair of treasure chests, Shiu checked the game’s autosave and found it was about 50 minutes old. Having opened 500 of the 566 chests, she took the loss in stride and replayed the stretch. “50 minutes ago?” one viewer wrote. She later fought through a series of new enemies, met a mysterious character who explained the plan behind the attacks on the party’s ship and, after a last round of equipment changes, reached the base of the Axis Pillar, the tower at the center of the city.

At the close she said that if this turned out to be the last tower she would end the story in the next stream, though she added that, as a first-time player, she could not be sure there was no more dungeon beyond it. She said there would be no stream on Wednesday and that the next would begin at 7 p.m. on Nov. 5. Seven Super Chats and Stickers arrived over the course of the stream.
