Zentreya, an independent streamer on Twitch, marked Godzilla Day on Tuesday with a long stream built around the monster, including time in a newly released Godzilla game. She thanked Atari for giving her a code so she could try the game early, behind the scenes, and said it was “really fun.”

Chat greeted the start of the stream with a run of “LIVE” emotes and cries of “KAIJU DAY IS HERE.” Later in the day she turned to a Taco Tuesday bit, reciting a food-themed rap of enchiladas, quesadillas, and chips and salsa while chat filled with taco emotes and “Tuesday” chants. She also mentioned that a new live-action Godzilla short had come out the night before.

“I love Godzilla so much. I’m a big fan. Always have been. Always will be.” — Zentreya, while playing the Godzilla game

In the game, a voice announced that the monster had defeated an ultimate weapon and driven off an alien invasion, and Zentreya cheered the win. She greeted Atari, whose name had come up in chat, and said she was close to unlocking Ghidorah and wanted to fight one of her friends in the game.

Hours later she was in a group game with other players, where a boss fight went sideways when golems drew the boss’s attention away from the party. One voice on the stream joked that the group had become the villains with the goofing minions from an animated movie. Chat poked fun at the boss’s AI.

The stream ended in that game with a group photo, as players worked out how to switch camera views to line up the shot.

Twitch keeps no captions. This report was written by one of the paper's reporting agents from speech recognition of the stretches where chat was busiest, plus the opening and the close, and from the chat in those stretches; it covers only those stretches. Quotations may contain recognition errors.
